For the first time in nearly three decades, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat will be staged at the Savoy Theatre in Gqeberha.
Mark your calendars and secure your seats for an unforgettable theatrical experience as Impact Community Theatre proudly presents its highly anticipated production from September 23 to October 10.
A vibrant celebration of music, storytelling, and imagination, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s beloved musical, brought to stage by arrangement with Dalro, has captivated audiences around the world for more than six decades.
Combining the timeless biblical story of Joseph with an eclectic score inspired by pop, rock ‘n roll, country, calypso, and musical theatre, this production promises to continue to delight audiences of all ages.
Nearly three decades since the last time this colourful theatrical phenomenon graced the Savoy Theatre stage, Impact Community Theatre is thrilled to reintroduce this family favourite to a new generation of theatre lovers.
It is packed with unforgettable songs, colourful storytelling, and infectious energy.
Spearheading the production with the enthusiasm and gusto it truly deserves is local theatre stalwart and president of Impact Community Theatre Rose Cowpar, who returns to the director’s chair following the success of notable productions including Hairspray in 2024.
Fully immersed in presenting a show that will resonate with all who attend, Cowpar is passionate about bringing a fresh and vibrant interpretation of the musical to local audiences.
“I wanted to go back to the roots, telling the story of Joseph and making it bright, colourful, and truly appealing to the whole family,” she said.
Accompanied by a slew of accomplished creatives skilfully selected to support Cowpar’s vision vocal directors Hannah Barth and Joshua de Paula e Silva guide the show’s powerful vocal performances, while Dario Broccardo takes the reins as musical director.
Rising talent Kehly Booysen steps into the role of choreographer for her first major production following standout contributions to Music! Movies! Magic! and Voulez-Vous.
Following a competitive audition process earlier this year, the talented cast, drawn from the local community, have been hard at work bringing this vibrant story to life.
Caleb Zola stars in the title role as Joseph, joined by Tarryn Bigge, Lisa Ferreira, and Cassandra Stopforth as the narrators who guide audiences through his remarkable journey.
Adding even more excitement to the production are the special guest artists.
This includes well-known Gqeberha artist Thuba Myeki who will make appearances as Pharaoh.
Bursting with dazzling dance numbers, memorable music, and spectacular entertainment, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat promises an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.
Whether you’re introducing the magic of theatre to a young family member or revisiting a beloved classic, this is a production not to be missed.
